Remus high level cans

Post by templ8 »

Bought a pair of Remus high level cans from a forum member a few weeks ago and was really looking forward to getting them on the bike.

However when they arrived they were shite and in no way resembled the description, one had a long crack where the pipe meets the can and both had deep pitting on the aluminium where the brackets fit. The pitting couldn't be concealed with the brackets as the marks were wider than the bracket.
There was no way to polish these marks out.

I had considered returning them but really wanted high levels.
After thinking about it at work I wondered if my existing Scorpion stainless cans would fit onto the remus system.

After measuring, it turns out the scorpion silencer jacket will just fit over the remus jackets.
I drilled out the rivets on both sets, cut the baffle tube out of both sets and transplanted the scorpion tubes Into the remus set.

A 10mm strip was cut off the end of the remus cans and fitted back onto the end caps.
The scorpion cans were then slid onto the end caps over the 10mm strips and rivetted on.

The next problem was the cracks, ground out some of them to clean them out and give somewhere for the filler rod to build up.

Took them to work and tig welded the cracks, then polished up.

Now fitted to the bike with new polished stainless brackets (mounted further up the can to help stop more cracks), they look and sound spot on.

Well done, perhaps not exactly what you wanted to do, but a good outcome in the end

I was that seller mr ember
I did post several pictures of the exhausts and mentioned that they needed work, I also sent the buyer a small refund with the cans, because of damage to one of the hanging brackets and a price reduction that the buyer hadn't spotted before payment.
although I was unaware of the cracking, that was down to my lack of observation. if I had seen the cracks I would have mentioned them. and the cans would have been priced accordingly.
I also wasn't told of the issues until the new owner had already modified them, so I wasn't given the chance to amend the situation.
if someone says these were shite so I cut them up and made this, without giving me a chance to rectify the problem, what can I do.
HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!
