Theoretically maximum RAM air pressure explaine
Hello, I posted something about RAM air exactly 364 days ago it just so happened to be my last post until now. I've done a lot of research on RAM air and studying fluid dynamics quite a bit in general like venturi effect and aerodynamic drag for subsonic vehicles, very interesting stuff, anyway an ...

RAM AIR effect
Hello, I've been curious for some time now of the air box pressure actual obtainable from RAM air on a motorcycle say at 200mph and how much of a hp increase that would actually give, also how efficient are the RAM AIR systems on newer bikes is it more of a cool air intake then anything?

Re: Cylinder head / gasket failure
I also have never heard of a head gasket failure of any kind in the 21 yrs of running these bikes. Really sounds like an issue with the water pump. I had both gaskets fail on me within 30 miles of riding after installing, coolent only leaked in the cylinder bore and was blowing huge clouds ...

Re: CV carb operation
But if you're going in balls-deep, buy a copy of the Haynes Fuel Systems Techbook, it answers every question you could possibly ask, and a lot you won't have thought of. I bought one a few months ago, I'm still on chapter three.... I didn't know they still made books lol. I checked it out its only ...

Re: U.K. Question
all I'm going to say is V8s. There's a man in the UK named Alan Millyard built a bike with a Dodge Viper V10 engine. He's on you tube. [/quote] Yea I'm seriously thinking of moving to the U.K. Or somewhere like that because y'all get the coolest bikes like early 90s i4 cbr 250rr zrx400 i4 and much ...

Re: JE high comp noise
The only way to tell is on a Dyno but you could try raising the needles and see if it stops. If you haven't changed the filter of cans then I can't see the pistons making a difference to fueling. What sort of noise are you hearing? It was detonating, I switch out main jets and put snorkel back on ...

Re: CV carb operation
But then the later Varadero had FI (too small to transfer to a Storm) so it's not as though Honda couldn't do it at the price... Back then FI wasn't very smooth, so the transition from closed to open throttle would have been interesting, with the torque available low down. Perhaps it's a simple ...

Re: Jetting recommendations
What cans? Sounds a little rich to me, I found smaller pilots and mains were better but then I also had larger inlet valves, an ignition advancer, and gas flowed the heads, so not directly comparable. What do the plugs show? Plugs are black, what size jets are you running and your setup also your ...

Re: CV carb operation
Not sure what you mean by that.....higher rpms = a larger vacuum signal. This is what allows the slides to open. I guess the simplest answer to all this is that the slides on these carbs are only fully open at 7-7.5K RPM or so and above by design. The engine needs to run at those RPMs to generate a ...

Re: CV carb operation
Well if you would like I can PM you my cell number as it might be easier than writing a novel for you.....lol Though quick question, have you ever driven any vehicle with a "vacuum" gauge? If so, when you go wide open throttle, have you noticed the gauge drop to a very low reading and then climb ...
