steep stairs in the dark isn't funny and the 'flight' seems to take ages, the pegs sound a bit vicious, get well soon (and a light)

Re: Fireblade help!
No worries Watty, you never know! if you need a pump and its carbed I may be able to help! Is it a Mitsubishi pump (there is a cast logo in the plastic end cap) which the points burn out?
You can get a points kit or change the unit for something more reliable.

Re: Fireblade help!
Hi Watty Is the blade carbed or injected, may of the Hondas have a crank sensor which energises the ecu / module which switches the relay for the fuel pump, it may not be the fuel pump! It would be worth checking a couple of items before buying anything eg if you put a direct feed to the pump does ...

Re: Practical classics - reg/rec fix ????!
reg failure does seem to be relatively recent and was pretty rare in the 80's (remember them well and cx500's), it seems coupled with higher output and enclosure, I'll make up a heat sink for behind the reg and I think you can get a gel which assists with heat transfer (maplins I guess), the fan ...

Re: Practical classics - reg/rec fix ????!
Hi Popkat One of my items on the winter list was to put a later finned reg on, with the rear tail trim off I couldn't help thinking 'this needs a vent,' its tucked well out of the way and has only 'draughts'. I have heard of folks mounting a hard drive fan over the top and wiring to the ignition ...

Welcome to the 'club' keep your eyes peeled, but older and issues sorted is better than younger demanding money to be spent (bit like a teenager)

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
Got my seat back after a recover and gel insert for my old elbow, cool n comfy top yoke fitted, later regulator done, fairing, tank & pan trim away at pit stop bikes for corrosion attention, trim and repaint (the tank, fairing and pan), cam timing to check, fit the braided hoses & clean the pads ...
